ADC Improves Mechanization and Food Production using Landini Tractors

Construction and Agricultural equipment manufacturer and supplier, FEIL Group of Companies (FEIL), has sold three Landini Super 9500 and ten DT 110B Landini tractors to Agricultural Development Corporation (ADC).

The tractors were delivered to Agricultural Development Corporation (ADC) earlier last month, after they were given funds by the government to purchase modern equipment to breed quality seeds, to promote food security, which is one of the Big 4 agendas in Kenya.

ADC is a government parastatal under the Ministry of Agriculture tasked with breeding of cattle and sheep and empowering farmers by producing maize and potato seeds that are supplied to Kenya Seed in order to process and package to sell to farmers all over the country.

The transaction reflects the government parastatal’s belief in the quality and longevity of the Landini tractors, which has attracted more customers in their regions to buy tractors from us.

“We considered Landini tractors since they are high quality European machines that were competitive enough to meet our specifications,” said Gilbert Kosgey, Technical Officer-Engineering, Kitale

“The robust design of this tractor, coupled with its Perkins engine, gearbox and the hydraulics lift capacity made this tractor ideal for our business. Compared with the other models, Landini is fuel efficient since other models use 8l per acre while Landini uses 50% less and it is very easy to manage. FEIL also has very good after sales support with franchises near our regions, where our farmers are able to get genuine spare parts and after sales services.”

Mr Reuben Richard, the Group General Manager at FEIL Group of Companies said the Landini model has over the years earned a reputation for its efficiency and great performance.

SMART survey and sentinel site data collected in June and July 2019 by the Kenya Food Security Steering Group indicates that food insecurity has significantly worsened since the May mid-season assessment with 2.6 million people in Kenya currently experiencing Crisis or worse outcomes.

We believe that immense improvements in food security will be eminent once ADC puts the Landini tractors in to use.

This will therefore help farmers get more quality seeds while consumers have easier access to food and purchasing power, resulting in significant reduction in food consumption gaps, hence promoting food security.
