Jalang’o quits Milele FM

Popular radio presenter and comedian, Felix Odiwuor, commonly known as Jalang’o has quit Milele FM.

The witty comedian made the announcement of his exit on social media on Monday evening. Jalang’o said that his decision arose from a contractual dispute with his employer, Mediamax Network Limited which although the two parties were negotiating, they could not come to an agreement.

Jalang’o co-hosted Milele breakfast show with Alex Mwakideu since August 2018 and thanked his fans and employer for the opportunity.

“Last Friday was my last day at Milele Fm and I want to thank everyone who supported me and every fan who was with that to the point we became the most popular and No 1 Radio Station in the country. I want to thank the Mediamax management for the opportunity they gave me and I will forever be grateful.”

“To my brother Alex Mwakideu you know to my last blood I love you! Keep shinning and being the best. To all my colleagues at Mediamax both at Milele , K24 , Kameme , Emoo, Maiyan, and Meru Fm…I’ll forever love you. To my fans and every listener Thank you for tuning in! Like we say.”

His departure comes at a time Mediamax is laying off more than 100 employees with the entire newsroom of K24 affected. This latest round of retrenchment is the second that the company is effecting in less than a year having sent home more than 150 employees in October 2019.

It was reported that Jalang’o had led his colleagues in instituting legal proceedings against his employer over a proposed 50 percent pay cut a move that angered the management at Mediamax.

Jalang’o has previously worked for Hot 96, Radio Maisha and Kiss 100. He becomes the second celebrity presenter to quit the now troubled media house after TV news anchor, Betty Kyallo.
