Showmax shares a glimpse of its new rebrand, reveals pricing, data saving settings
The all-new Showmax takes center stage, marking a game-changing moment in the world of streaming. Ten months after the joint streaming vision for Africa was unveiled by MultiChoice, Comcast’s NBCUniversal, and Sky, Showmax has emerged with a refreshed brand, an extensive content lineup, and a cutting-edge streaming platform.
Showmax has broken new ground with the world’s first standalone Premier League plan for mobile users. For just Ksh 500 a month, enthusiasts can catch all 380 games live on Showmax Premier League, redefining how football is experienced on the go.
In addition to the Premier League plan, Showmax has introduced two more plans catering to audiences in 44 African countries. Showmax Entertainment on mobile comes at an unbelievable Ksh 300 a month, while the Showmax Entertainment plan sees a monthly price drop from Ksh 760 to Ksh 650.
Marc Jury, CEO of Showmax, highlighted the unparalleled potential, stating, “Showmax Premier League is a game-changing product that gives individuals a ticket to the football they love, wherever they are, on the device they always have with them, at a price that’s impossible not to love.”
Richard Masters, Premier League CEO, expresses delight, saying, “We are thrilled with this Showmax initiative, putting the Premier League in your pocket at a new price point so that millions more can enjoy our fantastic competition.”
At the core of Showmax’s success lies a robust technical platform, heralding the active presence of the Peacock streaming platform in over 70 countries. The collaboration brings forth a world-class streaming experience, evidenced by successful live-streamed events like Super Bowl LVI and the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022.
Showmax rebrand in February opens the doors to a captivating entertainment universe with 21 new Showmax Originals launching in February alone, contributing to a remarkable 150% increase in production output. The international offering, a result of partnerships with NBCUniversal, Sky, and MultiChoice, guarantees a steady supply of blockbuster titles.
From the latest Fast franchise installment, Fast X, to Wes Anderson’s comedy-drama Asteroid City and NBC’s procedural drama The Irrational, Showmax ensures a stellar lineup. Paramount and HBO contribute with Mission Impossible: Dead Reckoning, Halo S2, House of the Dragon, The Last of Us, True Detective, and The White Lotus.
Calvo Mawela, MultiChoice Group CEO, underscored Showmax’s commitment, stating, “Nobody understands Africa like we do. Showmax is putting the continent first with a powerful streaming service that will revolutionize streaming in Africa in 2024.”
The streaming platform stands out as the first streaming service in Africa to enable mobile downloads for offline viewing and the pioneer of a mobile-only plan. Competitive new price points coupled with a growing network of payment options ensure accessibility for all.
The much-anticipated new Showmax app is set to hit app stores as of January 23, 2024, in a staggered migration process across 44 markets. Existing customers will receive communication on accessing the new app, and by February 12, 2024, the new Showmax will be live in all markets.
