Council of Governors Urges President Uhuru to re-open the economy
Council of Governors Chariman, Wycliffe Oparanya has urged President Uhuru Kenyatta to gradually start re-opening the economy, a move that might see the cessession of movement in and out of Mandera, Mombasa and Nairobi Counties lifted.
In a social media post, Oparanya who is also the governor for Kakamega, revealed that the move was as a result of widespread consultations with all the County chiefs.
The governor however, noted that enforcement measures and protocols aimed at combating the spread of the novel Coronavirus pandemic must be followed and duly enforced.
“After consultations with my colleagues @KenyaGovernors, we advise H.E President Uhuru Kenyatta @StateHouseKenya to gradually open the economy. Enforcement of measures and protocols aimed at combating Covid-19 pandemic should continue to be enforced during the process,” he said.
President Uhuru had earlier on hinted at lifting the cessation of movement in and out of Nairobi and Mombasa counties that have been in place since April 7th, 2020.
