Jubilee purge strikes Aden Duale

In what appears to be a poorly kept secret, Majority Leader of National Assembly and Garissa Town MP Aden Duale has been kicked out in place being replaced by Kipipiri Member of Parliament Amos Kimunya.

Eldas MP Adan Keynan was designated to replace Kimunya as the Secretary to the Jubilee Coalition Parliamentary Group.

The changes were made during a Jubilee Coalition Parliamentary Group meeting chaired by President Uhuru Kenyatta which according to insiders, lasted about thirty minutes.

Keynan’s new position will be interpreted by most as a move by President Uhuru Kenyatta to appease the pastoral communities after the ouster of Duale.

The changes were read out by Jubilee Majority Whip Emmanuel Wangwe. Deputy president William Ruto attended the meeting that was conspicoulsy missed by MPs loyal to him.

Duale’s ouster followed a petition from more than 130 MPs who accused him sabotaging the Jubilee agenda. On Sunday, Jubilee Party Vice Chairman David Murathe warned members of dire consequences if they fail to attend the meeting.

Last week, 16 MPs were de-whipped from various National Assembly committees over what was termed as divided loyalty.
