Safaricom temporarily closes shops in Nairobi and Mombasa Counties in the fight against COVID-19

Telco giant, Safaricom has closed some of its shops in Nairobi and Mombasa counties as it continues to take proactive and preventive measures to safeguard the health and wellbeing of its staff and customers.

This comes after the telco temporarily closed its Thika Road Mall (TRM) shop after a staff tested positive for coronavirus.

The closed shops include;

  • Safaricom Shops in Nyali and Rex House in Mombasa
  • Thika and Lavington Mall shops

Safaricom CEO, Peter Ndegwa said the closure of the shops will allow for preventive measures such as cleaning, fumigation and sanitization to be undertaken in respect to Ministry of Health guidelines.

“We will be undertaking such measures regularly to our shops and customer facing facilities, to safeguard the health and wellbeing of our staff and customers as this remains our top most priority even as we continue to help the country in managing the Covid19 crisis,” he said.

Customers have been encouraged to access services from other nearby shops, as well as through self-service channels including; Zuri Chatbot, MySafaricom App.
