FKF Secures Sh1.2 billion sponsorship deal, to rename KPL to BetKing Premier League

Football Kenya Federation has received a Sh1.2 billlion five-year sponsorship deal from Nigerian betting company, BetKing.

Subsequently, the deals sees the renaming of Kenya Premier League to BetKing Premier League.

Acknowledging the tough times KPL teams have had to go through since its last official sponsors, Sportpesa, exited Kenyan market, FKF President Nick Mwendwa said that the deal was a dream come true for the league and would go a long way in enhancing financial stability of participating teams.

Through the partnership, participating teams will receive Sh 8 million annually from the federation a fete that will allow them honor matches. “Our players and club officials have had it rough over the past few years because of an underfunded league,” he said.

The sponsorship will see the federation receive Sh220 million boost in the first year, 2020-2021 season, 5 percent increment in the second and a further 10 percent in the subsequent years.
