New Platform to enable buy airtime,pay bills via SMS

Purchasing airtime across networks, paying postpaid bills to Kenya Power and buying electricity token has been made easier, only a text message away.

This follows a revolutionary invention by Financial Technology Services solution provider Tsenda.

You can now be able to buy airtime and Electricity tokens by just sending a message to a toll-free shortcode 40512.

Tsenda is a Safaricom PLC’s Paybill-backed system, supported by Kibo Capital’s PaymentGate LLP e-Receipting system.

With a mobile phone, you can now purchase airtime for any network be it Safaricom, Airtel or  Telkom by sending SMS to short code 40512, saving time and money since no service fee is charged  and also offering a cheap retrieval of past receipts.

“When one purchase airtime using this PIN, they receive a branded electronic receipt that not only shows their transaction details, of course hiding the sensitive parts, but also has adverts on amazing offers. Companies can exploit this innovative e-Receipt and make money.”

This will be a great breakthrough considering that it has been a challenge to purchase airtime for Airtel and Telcom

“It is now easier for one to pay their Post Paid bills and retrieve earlier payments through a statements, saving time and money in the long run,” the Kibo Capital Group MD Jasper Ochieng said.

This also works when you want to purchase prepaid electricity token, all you need to do is sending your account number and amount to 40512. For those on KPLC Post Paid, the PIN Number to use is 732929, saving time and money and also offering a cheap retrieval of past receipts.

You can now purchase airtime for Airtel using these simple steps:

Send the Airtel number and amount in the below example

A254733******#Amount to 40512

Enter PIN(mobile money pin)

With the same example, one can purchase airtime for Telkom line by substituting the ‘A’ with a “T”.

Example:

T254775******#Amount to 40512.

Enter PIN (mobile money pin)

To purchase Airtime for Safaricom line,

One needs only to send the amount to Paybil number 40512 and enter PIN

If you are purchasing airtime for Airtel or Telkom line or any other Safaricom line,  you just enter Mobile number followed by hashkey (#) then amount, send to toll-free shortcode 40512 and wait for MPESA prompt

KPLC Tokens

The paybill number also works when you want to purchase prepaid electricity token, all you need to do is sending your account number and amount to 40512. For those on KPLC Post Paid, the Paybill Number to use is 732929
