The Amujae Initiative welcomes third cohort of women leaders

The Ellen Johnson Sirleaf Presidential Center for Women and Development (EJS Center) has announced the enrollment of a new cohort of accomplished African women who will join the flagship program, the Amujae Initiative. This is the third cohort of leaders to join the program, launched in 2020 by former President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf, to inspire and prepare women to take up roles in public leadership and excel in the highest echelons of leadership.

The new cohort consists of 12 women leaders from 10 countries across Africa, including current government ministers, members of parliament, senior government advisors, and activists passionate about issues ranging from economic development to gender equality and youth empowerment. These women have already demonstrated success over the course of their careers and have the ambition and commitment to bring about real change as public leaders.

The Amujae Initiative has been an incredible success since its launch, and the third cohort of leaders will build upon the foundations laid by the first two cohorts. The program is designed to empower women and help them develop the skills and confidence needed to become effective leaders in their respective fields.

The Amujae Leaders are supported by a distinguished group of Amujae Coaches, including former heads of state and leaders of international institutions. These coaches provide invaluable insight and guidance from their public leadership experience.

Former President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf expressed her pride in welcoming the new cohort of leaders. She believes that the women have what it takes to make a real difference in public leadership and will undoubtedly serve as sisters and supporters as they embark on their Amujae journey.

Interim EJS Center Executive Director, Oley Dibba-Wadda, also an Amujae Leader, welcomed the new cohort of women and said that she knows all too well the enriching and joyous journey that they are about to embark on. She expressed her confidence in their ability to become powerful and effective leaders and affirmed that the first and second cohorts of Amujae Leaders stand ready and waiting to welcome and support them on their unique leadership journeys.

The Amujae Initiative is making great strides in advancing women’s leadership in Africa. Enrolling a new cohort of leaders is a testament to the program’s success and the impact women can have on public leadership when given the right support and opportunities. We look forward to seeing these women’s impact in their respective fields and their influence on the next generation of African women leaders.
