250 Lower Grade Pupils of Cheleta Primary benefit from shoes donation

Cheleta Primary School has received over 250 pairs of shoes for its PP1, PP2, and Grade 1 pupils, donated by the APA Apollo Foundation.

The shoes were handed over by Joyce Muiruri, Brand Manager at APA Apollo Group, to Ann Kiarie, an Early Childhood Development teacher, and Virginia Rutere, a Grade 1 teacher.

The donation aims to improve school attendance by addressing the lack of proper footwear, which has been a barrier for many children from low-income families.

Footwear is often a challenge for young students, as the long walks to school can lead to discomfort and injuries, causing some to miss classes. The new shoes are expected to reduce absenteeism and help ensure more consistent school attendance.

“The new shoes will help the children attend school more consistently, reducing the likelihood of missed lessons due to foot injuries or harsh weather,” said Joyce Muiruri, Brand Manager of APA Apollo Group. “This initiative aligns with the APA Apollo Foundation’s commitment to supporting education and empowering communities by ensuring that every child, regardless of their circumstances, can attend school regularly, comfortably and safely.”

Since 2006, the APA Apollo Foundation has also sponsored top-performing students from the school, with 52 students benefiting from the initiative so far.
