SPORTPESA EQUIPS MAINSTREAM FOOTBALL ACADEMY WITH FOOTBALL KITS
SportPesa, through its Kits for Africa program has today donated football kits to Riruta’s Mainstream Football Academy to support its players under various age categories.
The items comprising jerseys, shorts, bags and training gear will help the academy which nurtures and develops football talent in the area with players ranging between ages two (2) to twenty three (23).
“Kits for Africa was started with the purpose of supporting football loving communities so that they can enjoy the sport as well as nurture talent. This will also help create a large pool of skilled players to make the squads of various clubs and the national teams that will one day make Kenya proud,” said SportPesa Public Relations Manager Lola Okulo during the handover.
Kits for Africa is an initiative that encourages football fans to donate their old kit for under privileged grassroot teams across Africa. This initiative has led to over 50,000 kits collected and passed on to football loving communities in Kenya, South Africa, Tanzania among other countries in the continent.
“We believe in nurturing the kids, and this donation will go a long way to help us achieve that. We therefore thank the SportPesa team and ask that they make this a partnership to ensure these kids are well nurtured in sports”, said Coach Christopher Karanja.
This marks the fifth year that SportPesa is running this project aimed at building and developing grassroot football as part of the company’s pledge to transform lives through sports.
