Nairobi City County Governor Mike Sonko has called on President Uhuru Kenyatta to consider full resumption of sports in the country.

“I want to take this opportunity to call on President Uhuru Kenyatta to allow for full resumption of sports in the country as we continue to relax Covid-19 regulations in line with Ministry of Health protocols,” said Sonko in a tweet.

Sonko tweeted after attending an international friendly match between Kenya and the 2012 African Cup of Nations (Afcon) champions Zambia at the Nyayo National Stadium.

Responding to Sonko’s tweet, a model and political activist Adele Simiyu said:

”Our talents are being wasted out here, we need to go back for our usual trainings, Jayden (President Uhuru’s nickname), please do the necessary, sports is our daily bread winner, we all know hakuna Corona Kenya, mbona Uhunye anatufungia sports tangu March.”

Adele further tweeted:” Many countries like Tanzania have taken great steps forward ever since corona scam hit the world,, why is Uhunye (referring to President Uhuru) not opening the sports activities in Kenya,,! Punda amechoka.”
