Deputy President Gachagua Chairs 23rd IBEC Session at his Karen Residence

Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has emphasized the importance of harmonious collaboration between the National Government and County Governments in advancing development initiatives.

Chairing the 23rd Ordinary Session of the Intergovernmental Budget and Economic Council (IBEC) at the Official Residence in Karen, Gachagua underscored the significance of platforms like IBEC for fostering consultation and cooperation.

“This morning, at the Official Residence in Karen, I am chairing the 23rd Ordinary Session of the Intergovernmental Budget and Economic Council (IBEC), which is one of our avenues of consultations, “Gachagua said.

He added, “Smooth working relations between the National Government and County Governments facilitate complementarity in delivering development,”

The session served as a crucial platform for consultations and deliberations among key stakeholders.

Among those in attendance were Governors, Cabinet Secretaries, Principal Secretaries, members of Constitutional Commissions, Independent Offices, and various other stakeholders.

Council of Governors Chairperson Anne Waiguru led the contingent of Governors, reflecting a unified effort towards fostering cooperation between different levels of government.

Notable figures present included Governors James Orengo (Siaya), Mutula Kilonzo (Makueni), and Andrew Mwadime (Taita Taveta), among others.

Deputy Governors also made a significant presence, with representatives from various counties such as Nairobi, Kwale, and Tana River, underscoring the inclusive nature of the discussions.

The session provided an opportunity for stakeholders to address key issues related to budget allocation, economic policies, and collaborative projects aimed at enhancing the socio-economic landscape across the nation.
